Ten reasons soup should be a part of your weekly meal rotation

Soups and stews are a wonderful healthy family meal option. Here are the top 10 reasons soups (stews and chili included) should be a part of your weekly meal rotation.

10) Soup freezes well. I try to double the amount I need so I’ll have a healthy meal option down the line. It took me a while to learn to love leftover frozen stews but once I got in the habit, it has been a huge time saver.

9) Soups are fast. Most soup has very little prep time and does not require a lot of direct attention while cooking. Consider using an instant pot to make the cooking time even faster.

8) Soup is affordable. It makes great use of extra vegetables and broth that you have on hand.

7) Soup warms you up on a cold day.

6) Soup makes you feel better when you are sick.

5) The aroma from a slow cooked soup makes your house inviting when you arrive home.

4) Soup is a great fix-it and forget it option for days you do not have time to cook. The meal can be prepped ahead the night before in the crockpot and put in the fridge to cook all day until you return home.

3) Soup only gets one pot dirty.

2) Soups are a nutritional powerhouse meal all in one bowl. I’m a big believer that food is medicine and soup is a wonderful opportunity to get lots of benefits in one bowl.
